Are you travelling to Irvine for Marymass 2019? Many of our events take place in and around the town centre. Follow our handy guide below to help you find the best way of travelling to and from our unique festival!

By Car:

Irvine Town Centre has over 2,500 car parking spaces would you believe! Visit Parking in Irvine to find the best parking spot for you.

Please note all parking in Irvine is free, however there are some parking restrictions and time limits in place in some areas. For details, visit the council parking page.

By Rail:

Irvine is served by one of the busiest railway lines in Scotland with the Scotrail operated services running up to 5 trains per hour throughout the day from Ayr and Glasgow.

Trains operating to Irvine from Ayr call at Newton-on-Ayr, Prestwick Town, Prestwick International Airport, Troon and Barassie.

Trains operating to Irvine from Glasgow call at Paisley Gilmour Street, Johnstone, Milliken Park, Howwood, Lochwinnoch, Dalry and Kilwinning.

The route is served using modern trains complete with spacious carriages, free WiFi and toilets. All train timetables, ticket booking, station facilities and further information is available at www.scotrail.co.uk.

By Bus:

Irvine is served by two main bus operators, locally based Shuttle Buses and national giants Stagecoach. The main bus interchange in the town is Irvine Cross.

  • Service 21 – Dreghorn, Drybridge, Dundonald & Crosshouse
  • Service 27 – Kilwinning
  • Service 29 – Kilwinning
  • Service 38 – Kilwinning
  • Service 113 – Kilmaurs & Stewarton

Stagecoach is the main operator of service buses within Ayrshire. With a mix of services connecting towns, local services and express services, locals and visitors can access almost any part of Ayrshire through their comprehensive network. By Taxi:

Irvine is well served by a number of local taxi firms which operate on a call and collect basis. Phone numbers for each individual taxi operator are available on request, or just ask the staff at the venue or hotel of your choice and they will be more than happy to assist you! Additionally there are a number of taxi ranks located around the town, most of which are served 24 hours a day. These can be found at Bank Street, Irvine Railway Station and ASDA Irvine.      

By Horse:

If you have arrived by horse then you are most definitely here for Marymass! Horses are a big part of our festival, and we just love them! The horse drawn Fourth Port and Marymass Parades take place on Sat 17th and Sat 24th August 2019 respectively.

Horses gather at Second Avenue, Irvine at 10am for the Fourth Port Parade and at Golffields Road at 8:30am for Marymass Saturday. If you would like to enter a horse in either parade, simply turn up on the day and the stewards will make sure you get a good spot!
